KORAKIS ATHANASIOS

Thanasis Korakis is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Thessaly and has been a researcher-professor at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering in New York. His research interests focus on wired and wireless network issues with an emphasis on experimental research through research infrastructures. He is in charge of the Networks and Telecommunications Laboratory (NITLab) and the experimental infrastructure NITOS (Network Implementation Testbed using Open Source software), an infrastructure that offers remote access for experimentation to researchers from all over the world, in wireless sensor network technologies. Having a lot of interaction with modern agri-food, it has led NITLab to develop a multitude of applications for smart agriculture, animal husbandry, fish farming and the transport chain. He has been a scientific leader in a number of international, European and national research programs, with over 120 publications in international journals and conferences and h-index 34 in gscholar, various best publication awards and 5 patents.
