Dimitris Kefalas

Dimitris Kefalas received his Integrated Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Thessaly in 2022, followed by a second Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering Science and Technology in 2025. Since 2022, he has been a joint Ph.D. candidate at Sorbonne University and the University of Thessaly. He is a researcher at both the LIP6 laboratory (Sorbonne University) and NITLab (University of Thessaly).

His research focuses on experimentally driven studies in 5G and beyond cellular networks, with an emphasis on cloud-native RAN design, O-RAN architectures, and Heterogeneous Radio Access Technologies. He explores real-world testbed deployments, AI/ML-driven network control, energy-efficient operation, and dynamic resource scaling of RAN functions. He has also participated in EU-funded collaborative research projects.
